Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
The 2013 Assemblage is predominately Petit Verdot grown on the Sullivan Estate. This wine very powerful aromatically with hints of vanilla and black cherry. There is an initial brightness of fruit that is very inviting, yet there is the underlying savory and dusty character that is so true to the Rutherford appellation. The mouth feel is just a developed as the aroma. Initially big and broad, this wine coats the mouth! The tannins are refined giving the sense of sweetness and cocoa powder. There is a good balance of acidity that creates length and depth that lingers. This is sure to be a crowd pleaser, and to be enjoyed for year to come.

The 2013 growing season was outstanding! A warm spring and consistently warm days throughout the summer allowed the grapes to mature and ripen evenly.

Vintage Notes

Consistency and uniformity are the two words that best sum up the 2013 vintage.  A warm dry spring brought on early bud break, and allowed for even flowering. The early start permitted for vigorous canopy development and optimal berry set. There were a couple of heat spikes, and a few small events that had minimal effect on ripening and quality.  With that said, the warm sunny weather allowed the grapes to stay on the vines as long as necessary, which allowed optimal development of color and flavors. Overall it was an outstanding growing season.
