The 2013 Palette exhibits the iconic "Rutherford Dust" mouthfeel, a rich velvety texture, that is bright and fruitful. There are red tones of cherry and raspberry with hints of toasted vanilla spice that add depth and development. The wine is very well integrated with acidity that brings focus to the mid palate. There is a juicy lush quality that is inviting and adds richness. Very food friendly, enjoy now!
The growing season for the 2013 vintage started earlier than normal due to warm temperatures in early spring. Cold temperatures in May caused uneven fruit set, which meant smaller crops and lower yields. Harvest was one of the earliest on record, starting at the end of July, due to high consistent temperatures. Overall the fruit quality was high. There were no rain events, or cool offs during the peek of harvest, which allowed for clean, ripe fruit and ultimately beautiful tasty wines.
