VINTAGE SUMMARY
Consistency and uniformity are the two words that best sum up the 2013 vintage.  A warm dry spring brought on early bud break, and allowed for even flowering. The early start permitted for vigorous canopy development and optimal berry set. Even temperatures throughout the season caused the vines to ripen the fruit easily and on time. Most of the early ripening varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay began being harvested a few weeks earlier than normal. There were a couple of warm spells, and a few small rain events that had minimal effect on ripening and quality.  With that said, the warm sunny weather allowed the grapes to stay on the vines as long as necessary, which allowed optimal development of color and flavors. Most Cabernet was picked starting at the end of September and finishing in late October.  Overall it was an outstanding vintage.

Harvest Dates:  9/4/13 – 10/9/13
58% New French Oak
Alc. 14.8%
Blend:  92% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Petit Verdot

Wine Profile
Winemaker Notes
The 2013 Merlot has a slight floral aroma that jump out of the glass initially, but quickly fades into developed fruits such as dried cherries and plum. Hints of toasted vanilla and spice add to the developing complexities of this young wine. With a dense core, a rich and creamy texture adds to the appeal of savory yet sweet. Sure to be a crowd pleaser, enjoy for years to come.
