2003 Coeur de Vigne
This 2003 Coeur de Vigne was the last vintage Jim Sullivan created. It features one of Kelly’s favorite art pieces from her alchemy collection called “On the Edge of Infinity I” inspired by watching her father orchestrate the blending choices for his signature wine. A decade of maturing has led to a well-balanced and proportional wine. The oak has transitioned into a supporting role for the luscious, blueberry, currant, and plum fruit that remains abundant. A bold palate and firm tannins indicate it still has ageing potential. Hurry, this wine won’t be around for long.
Wow that was good wine. Sorry to say it is all gone.
The exemplary 2003 growing season produced a layered, richly textured wine. The spring was relatively cool and rainy with a gentle Indian summer that allowed the grapes to finish their maturation. This resulted in wines that are close in style to classical Bordeaux wines. This bottling is a blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, and less than 1% Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Every barrel was hand selected to produce a complex, refined and elegant wine. Most of the wine was thus aged on its lees.
