For Sean, childhood meant one thing: working alongside his father in the family vineyard trying to soak up as much knowledge as possible. While other kids his age were playing amongst the vines, Sean was studying them. Before he could legally drink the fruits of his labor, Sean was working side-by-side with Jim on vineyard maintenance, cellar work and ultimately, training as a winemaker.

Seeking to expand his experience, Sean spent the late-80s working at well-known Napa Valley institutions Hanns Kornell Champagne and Rutherford Hill Winery. The additional understanding and expertise gained enabled Sean to expand his role upon returning to the family winery full-time.

Still captivated with both the romance and reality of the family vineyard and, specifically, the estate grown wines found there, Sean’s favorite time and place is sunrise over the vineyard. He knows no better way to start a day’s work and appreciate the opportunity to work side-by-side with his brother, Ross, and sister, Kelly, to act as stewards caring for the family land and winery and preserving the Sullivan vision for future generations.
