Edward Barcenas
Cellar Master
In early 2012, Edward knew exactly what he wanted to do with the next step in his career: Work in a small high-end winery in Napa. Sullivan Wines provided exactly that. While today one can find Edward putting his vast knowledge to use alongside the Sullivan family to produce the best possible bottle of wine, his career in the industry began more than 13 years earlier.
Edward started his career in 1999 at Larson Family Winery. There, he developed an intimate knowledge of Cellar Operations, quickly elevating to Cellar Master the next year. After working with a good number of winemakers, grapes varieties, and winemaking styles, he decided to work exclusively with high-end wines.
His path to Sullivan continued with a Cellar Master position at Lynmar Winery in 2005, a Pinot Noir winery in Sebastopol. Fortunately for us, doing great wines in the Russian River Valley didn’t satisfy Edward. Determined to further his winemaking expertise and acumen, he turned his focus to developing a detailed understanding of specialized filtration while traveling to and studying the diverse wine regions throughout the West Coast.
Through his experiences throughout the wine industry, Edward’s perspective has convinced him that, while there are many ways in which Sullivan is unique, there are three that stand out the most: Unparalleled location in the heart of Napa valley, the potential of its fruit to produce world class wines, and the talent and dedication of the Sullivan team.
