We cannot express enough how happy we are with the 2010 vintage. Restrained but deliberate use of the finest French and American French oak barrels, have yielded deep phenolic notes that resonate in the glass. Rich shades of dark fruit will coax you to jump right in. Concentrated flavors of blueberry pie, almond and vanilla. Complimented by rich tones of coffee, chocolate, and cassis.
This wine has a deep ruby color, with deep chocolate and cocoa nose.
The flavors are complex with cherry, berry and stone fruits and a chewy Rutherford finish.
A classic big Merlot from Rutherford that is fat and well balanced with flavors of chocolate, mocha and stone fruits. The finish lingers with berry and coffee notes. We recommend this wine with Lamb chops, lamb shank or leg of lamb.
A family tradition
Red Ink originally started as a bit of a joke. In the early days the wine was produced to keep the vineyard out of red ink, so to speak. Kelly Sullivan was given the task by her dad Jim to design the label and Red Ink was born. Since then, Red Ink has become a pizza night tradition
Ross Sullivan fondly remembers walking the vineyards and sampling fruit of previous vintages; he instinctively knows which approach to take with the 2012 harvest. This wine embodies everything Ross feels the Rutherford AVA represents. The characteristic, ripe, full-bodied fruit and properly weighted structure are his baseline when tasting all other Chardonnays from around the world.
